Dual diagnosis program

Avive’s dual diagnosis program is designed to support individuals experiencing both substance use and mental health challenges.

Is this program a good fit?

Our dual diagnosis program may be suitable if you are:

  • Using alcohol or other drugs in a way that is impacting daily life
  • Managing co-occurring mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, or trauma
  • Experiencing challenges in relationships or work as a result of substance use
  • Seeking greater understanding of patterns contributing to substance use
  • Looking for peer support and connection in a therapeutic group setting
  • Interested in developing practical strategies and life skills to support ongoing wellbeing

Inpatient program

This inpatient program provides a structured environment to explore contributing factors related to substance use and mental health. Participants engage in individual and group-based therapy to develop skills in emotional regulation and behavioural change.

Topics include:

  • Understanding and managing substance use

  • Bio-psychosocial and neurobiological models of addiction

  • Motivation and stages of change

  • Relationship patterns and communication

Getting started

If you are new to Avive, please speak with your GP or psychiatrist to arrange a referral. Our team can also assist with any required assessments.

For patients currently receiving inpatient care at Avive, your treating psychiatrist will discuss options for transition into the day program.
